Every Age. Every Stage. One Adventure.

Preschoolers grow through three gentle steps. Primary schoolers work through The TLA Prism™. Young writers of any age can dive into The Literary Architect™.

Preschool: Ages 4 to 6

The TLA Way

The TLA Way is our preschool pathway, built on logic-based, multisensory phonics rather than memorising letter shapes and word patterns. It unfolds in three age-by-age programmes, each one small and focused, designed so your child never moves on before a skill is truly theirs.

Age 4 · Nursery

Emergent Literacy

The very first step: connecting sounds, letters and movement through play. Each letter comes with its own story and its own physical movement, so children learn to hear and shape sounds long before they're expected to read a single word.

Age 5 · K1

The Sound Architect

Children build a strong "ear" for language: blending, segmenting and playing with sounds until they can hear how words are built. Every new sound is introduced through a real storybook, then practised in a mini reading booklet your child gets to keep.

Age 6 · K2

Jumpstart to P1

Sounds become confident reading and writing, moving on to vowel teams, blends, and even prefixes and suffixes. Your child leaves this stage able to decode unfamiliar words independently, genuinely ready for Primary 1 rather than just rehearsed.

All three programmes are delivered through our shared framework of four Growth Zones. Read more on Our Method.

What Makes It Different

  • Rule-first, not memory-first: every phonics rule comes with a reason, not just a pattern to repeat
  • Multisensory learning: tracing in sand, air-writing, rhythmic chanting, so every child can access it
  • Cumulative pacing: nothing new is introduced until the last step is solid
  • Visible progress: a Milestone Map and Power Tokens make every small win feel real
  • Maximum 6 students per class: every child is seen, heard, and supported

What a Class Looks Like

A warm, familiar rhythm every time:

  • A multisensory phonics activity
  • A sound-building exercise
  • A word or sentence task

Always tied to something already taught, so nothing feels like a surprise.

The TLA Prism™

MOE-aligned English that goes beyond the score.

Every lesson takes one real-world theme and refracts it into every English skill your child needs: speaking, comprehension, grammar and writing. It's fully MOE-aligned, but it doesn't stop at the syllabus. It builds critical thinking and real confidence too.

MOE Syllabus Coverage

ComprehensionReading & inference skills
Synthesis & TransformationSentence-combining skills
VocabularyWord choice & precision
GrammarStructure & accuracy
Oral CommunicationReading aloud & conversation

The Prism Approach: 4 Beams

Every term's theme is refracted into four beams, each one a different way of thinking, researching, and writing about the same idea.

The Analytical Beam

Research, expository and informational writing, analysing information and supporting opinions with evidence.

The Investigative Beam

Journalism, interviews and communication, asking purposeful questions and turning spoken ideas into writing.

The Narrative Beam

Creative and descriptive composition: crafting characters, settings and figurative language, MOE-ready.

The Reflective Beam

Expressive and functional writing: personal voice, opinions and real-world texts. More below ↓

Underneath every beam: structured discussion, grammar taught with purpose, and a weekly reflection log.

We Do More Than Creative Writing

The Literary Architect™ Programme

Writing well isn't about having a "good imagination." It's a skill you can be taught, step by step. The Literary Architect is our signature Expressive & Functional Writing curriculum, built to turn nervous writers into confident ones.

Strong writers grow through many kinds of writing, not composition alone. This component builds critical thinking, clear communication, and confidence.

How It Works

Depending on the type of writing, students may work through steps like:

  • Research, to build real content
  • An art-based exercise, to feel the character or scene
  • The writing itself

Real voice, not a formula.

Where You'll Find It

  • Woven into every TLA Prism lesson as our composition component
  • Standalone holiday workshops: themed, immersive writing camps
  • The Literary Architect Collab: we bring the programme on-site to your own space, from schools and enrichment centres to student care centres

What Students Explore

Expressive Writing

  • Reflective writing
  • Literary and art response writing
  • Metaphorical and descriptive writing
  • Personal narratives
  • Opinion writing
  • Poetry

Functional Writing

  • Instructional writing
  • Manuals and guides
  • Brochures and information texts
  • Letters and emails
  • Reports and real-world communication tasks

Why It Matters

Most students struggle with composition because they lack ideas and confidence, not vocabulary. Students learn to:

Beyond Composition Writing

We focus on the thinking behind the writing, not just the final piece, through discussion, reflection, and purposeful writing tasks. This builds skills that carry over into reading comprehension, oral communication, and lifelong learning.
